Gerard K. Marino presents: GKMusique

Performer Unlocked!
Gerard K. Marino
Gerard K. Marino

Gerard K. Marino exploded into the game music scene in 2005 as the principal composer for the original GOD OF WAR series and further cemented his reputation for larger-than-life thematic orchestral writing with his scores for DC UNIVERSE ONLINE and THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN. But his musical journey started in Orlando as a “stack-of-synths” rock/pop/funk/new wave keyboard player and was tempered by 5 years of DJ-ing thru college. One month out of USC and he was a go-to electronica producer for renown film composers Christopher Lennertz, Christophe Beck, and Christopher Young which lead to collaborations with club icons Paul Oakenfold, Andy Gray, and Carmen Rizzo and on SWORDFISH, THE MATRIX RELOADED, and THE AGENCY.

Gerard has now fused his past with his present to synthesize future bass in GKMusique, his controllerist DJ project. GKMusique mashes up, remixes, and re-arranges beloved orchestral game themes from Western composers of the last decade with current club tracks and beats: Kratos vs. Kill The Noise, Abzu vs. Aoki, Overwatch vs. Oakenfold, and everything in between. GKMusique first appeared in February of 2017 with the Stetson Chamber Orchestra and had its grand debut at the Mayan Theater in downtown Los Angeles on the first night of E3 2017. GKMusique has since played the Brazilian International Game Festival in Sao Paolo and will be one of the headliners for FANTOKU on Sunday, November 5, at The Geek Easy.

FANTOKU: Fantasy Tokusatsu Nerd Fest!

update

Good evening fellow Gumshoes! We here at ONF Detective Agency Headquarters have been watching while you’ve been hard at work putting the case together for the special event we’ve been planning for this November, and we feel that you deserve a reward so we’re going to reveal some more special information for you that may help with your investigation.

First of all we want to thank you for your constant support past, present, and future. You’re the stars of this show and we couldn’t put these things together without each and every one of you helping us in your own individual ways. You’ve been donating money, sharing posts, inviting your friends, and your enthusiasm has lit a fire in our hearts once again, reminding us as to why we love throwing these events with you in the first place. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!

Secondly, we’ve been trying to figure out how to approach this event, which started out as a single day 4 performance afternoon, and has changed into a 2-3 day long massive event with 20 or so performances, a full size costume pre-judged costume contest, and our first ever free to the public vendor bazaar! We’ve added special guests that will be announced soon, a bunch of amazing artists and vendors, and holy crap a special guest host that we can’t wait to tell you about!

Most importantly though, we wanted to announce the actual name of the event! We’ve been working very closely with local legend Rando Calrissian and we feel that while this event is definitely festival sized in scope, calling it ONF2017 just didn’t seem appropriate because we don’t want people to come assuming that we’ll have all of our usual additions and crazy stuff we do or that we’ll have expensive ticket prices. Rando was able to come up with a wonderful name that encapsulates everything we’ll be bringing to you for the event, so we’re super proud to announce:

FANTOKU: Fantasy Tokusatsu Nerd Fest!

ONF FANTOKU LOGO
FANTOKU logo and design created and owned by Rando Calrissian

This makes a lot of sense for us because we like to bring together as many fandoms as we can to unite together under our house banner of everything Nerd Culture. This event alone we’re featuring a wide variety of things ranging from Final Fantasy, Anime, Board Games, Comic Books, all the way back to Power Rangers! You’re really going to like the announcement that comes with that last topic, but that will come later this week. 🙂

Once again, we really want to hammer it home that we’re super grateful that you continue to support us in the things we do, which allows us to bring you some of the best memories we’ve ever been able to share together as a family. You are the lifeblood of ONF and everything we achieve and you should feel super proud of that, just like we do!

I’M NOT CRYING, IT’S JUST THAT DAILY ORLANDO RAINFALL!!!

More announcements soon to come, and make sure to give Rando Calrissian a huge high five and pat on the back because he’s been putting in a lot of work on our promotional material that we’re going to be giving you very soon, as well as helping to bring bands and special guests out here from far away to celebrate with you! Buy the guy a BEER!

Major shout out again to those of you that have been sending us donations, and those of you that are patrons Patreon! The more people that join the team, the more amazing things we can do together!

Follow us on the Facebook Page and make sure to RSVP on the event page!

The best description for Professor Shyguy’s music is as follows; high energy, chiptune-electro-rocking, 8-bit, epicly vocalized, highly dance-able, theatrical nerd-pop. Singing 50% about video games and the other 50% is anything from Space/Time to English Language gymnastics.

He is recently known for singing Starring Star, the Funimation dub outro to the Dragon Ball Super. He can also be heard on Indoor Kids, Diamond Club, and many other podcasts.

The Marc With a C Trio announced for Mystery Event!

The Marc With a C Trio

Marc was born at a very young age. He’s been obsessively making lo-fi nerdy pop jams for about eighteen years now, and his latest album is called Unicorns Get More Bacon, as well as a side EP called Half Serious, Half Kidding. Spent part of 2017 in Canada making a record with Jordon Zadorozny (Blinker The Star, Chris Cornell, Hole, Mandy Moore, The Lemonheads). Marc’s been featured in Wired magazine, has won the Orlando Weekly award for Best Indie Act in 2003, 2010 and 2011, nominated for Best Singer/Songwriter for three years running in the same publication, has played festivals you might have heard of, and his live shows are sweaty pop workouts – whether he’s playing solo or with his trio.

His last seven albums have gone to #1 on Bandcamp’s indie pop vinyl charts within days of release, and he’s considered “canon” in the Rocky Horror universe due to his songs appearing on the blu-ray for the sequel, Shock Treatment. He’s also shared stages and toured with the likes of They Might Be Giants, The Dead Milkmen, The Protomen, Judy Tenuta and a number of other artists that excite a very small portion of the world. A staunch advocate for vinyl, Marc will talk your ear off about The Who and The Monkees for hours if given the chance. He’s also quite punctual. Ask around.

You can still help make the Orlando Nerd Fest a massively amazing event by donating directly here, or by joining our patrons on our Patreon here. We even accept BITCOIN (BTC) for all of you Bitcoin Barons out there!

Their music incorporates many other genres like rock, EDM, dirty pop, dubstep, chip-tunes, and pretty much everything else into their music. They’ve become a strong force in the nerd music scene and we’re excited to have them perform for us this November!

Dual Core performing at the ONF Mystery Event!

Performer Unlocked!
Dual Core
Dual Core

Brought together by the power of the internet (and perhaps a touch of musical providence), USA based computer programmer / rapper int eighty and English web designer / music producer c64 have been rocking the more studious side of the hip hop underground since 2007. Longtime favorites of those that attend such things as DEFCON, these musical giants are a perfect example of technology based Hip Hop and the culture behind it. Recently, Dual Core’s song “All the Things” was featured in the hit game Watch Dogs 2 as not only a featured track, but pretty much the anthem of the entire game itself.

We’ve been a huge fan of Dual Core since 2007 and we’re super stoked because this event marks the first time that we’ll get to feature them on an ONF stage! Fans of seeing Dual Core in the past should be just as excited as we are because int eighty truly puts on an incredible live show that you’re not going to want to miss!

Our Patrons and Sponsors have been doing a great job to ensure that we’re growing the show, and they have our tremendous thanks! If you want to help support the Orlando Nerd Fest you can do so either directly here, or through our Patreon here.

The “likes” on our Facebook Page are still heading towards that 5,000 milestone and we have a LOT more announcements coming at you soon! Make sure that you RSVP on the ONF Mystery Event 2017 so you don’t miss any of them!

The Returners “returnering” to Orlando for the Mystery Event!

Performer Unlocked!
The Returners
The Returners

The Returners are a five-piece VGM (video game music) band based in Austin, Texas. Among their claims to fame are a flute-playing front-woman and a singing drummer. They breathe new life into songs from retro and modern video games in a live rock band setting, along with a few non-gaming favorites from cartoons, musical theater and more. They’re a little metal, a little symphonic, and a lot nerdy.

The Returners have rocked out with us on our main stage for #ONF2014 and they’re always performing at your other favorite large scale nerd music events around the country such as MAGfest, PAX Prime, and Classic Game Fest! The Returners are one of our favorite bands and we guarantee if you give them a listen you’ll soon be saying the same!

As for us we’ll be releasing more information as it becomes available with Chozo usually leaking it on our event or facebook pages, or if FUZE is feeling sneaky he’ll hide previously unreleased information on our FAQ page. We’re really excited to be coming back in any capacity as you folks have been asking us for an #ONF2017 for quite a while now. The wonderful people that have been donating to ONF on our Patreon have given us a new spark in terms of giving the shows a jump start, and the more that help us there the better the events we can pull off become. #TeamONF has always done these shows out of pocket or with whatever sponsorship and special deals we can make, so attendance and donations are the lifeblood of keeping these things happening. If you want to help support the Orlando Nerd Fest you can do so either directly here, or through our Patreon here.

The “likes” on our Facebook Page keep climbing towards that 5,000 milestone and we still have more announcements to make! Make sure that you RSVP on the ONF Mystery Event 2017 so you don’t miss any of them!

ONF Mystery Show – Nov. 4th Weekend

update image

HOLY CRAP IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I’VE POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE!!!!!

Ok ok, that aside, YES, we’re super sorry for the radio silence since #ONF2015, which was an amazing show where we broke EXACTLY EVEN! That’s a super amazing thing to be able to say, and we want to thank you and especially thank the Orlando Science Center for saving our butts and being an amazing venue and a crazy fun experience! That said, we’re focused on making our shows be successful, both aesthetically and monetarily, and I’ll be honest with you, I NEEDED A VACATION FROM EVENTS (and so did my wallet!)

BUT WE’RE BACK BABY!

We’re going to start this out slow, and patiently work our way towards the next big Orlando Nerd Fest event. Personally? I want to try to do a hotel thing again, but it will take some doing and some serious funding to make it happen. We’ve got some fun activities for you though while you wait for us to get our SMACK together, and that leads me into this announcement.

We’re working with some amazing bands and supporters and sponsors and vendors to help put together a run of local events that we KNOW FOR A FACT that you’ll enjoy the hell out of. How do we know you will? Because we know you want to see that MASSIVE ONF REVIVAL, so you’ll be here with us rocking along and making it happen! Cryptic troll that I am though, (and the fact that our first event is in November, lol) I want to milk this out and have some fun with y’all leading into it, so I’m being very catty and Wendy’s Girl level sassy about dropping the information. IT’S JUST THAT AWESOME GUYS LIKE OMFG!

TL;DR here, is THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING US! and we’re doing a Mystery Show on the weekend of November 4th, 2017 here in Orlando, Florida!

Info and details will be laid out soon, because you’re all way too darn smart for your own good and have been picking apart my trollish puns and miss-spellings and even pulling apart alpha numerical codes that even I didn’t know were clues. I’LL GET YOU NEXT TIME, GADGET!~!~!~!

*flys off in rocket powered car*

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING #ONF2015 A SUCCESS!

I don’t have a ton of time here, and I want to write out the book of thank you’s to everyone, but I definitely wanted to blanket thank everyone for helping to make #ONF2015 and overwhelming success!

I need some time to finalize papers and move equipment and do many many things, but the post is coming.

Until then I’m going to leave you with this:

Thank you so very very much, we love each and every one of you!!!!!

-#TeamONF
