Meet the #ONF2015 Host: Josh Steelman

Josh Steel is one of those people that you meet and you’ll never forget. Not only is he the masterful head runner of The Geek Easy’s super popular NERDY KARAOKE, but he’s also one of the venue’s main kitchen cooks as well! Somehow he also seems to fit video gaming, voice acting, anime watching, and cosplay into that already crazy busy schedule. Josh Steelman, aka “Dick Steel”, is an avid lover of all things geek and his hobbies and lifestyle prove it!


Exhibit: Mummies of the World

Embark on a journey into the extraordinary world of mummies and mummification. Through modern science, engaging interactive and multi-media exhibits featuring 3-D animation, explore how mummies are created, where they come from and who they were. Using state-of-the-art scientific methodology, discover how modern science enables researchers to study mummies through innovative and non-invasive ways, offering unprecedented insights into past cultures and civilizations. What secrets do mummies hold about the past? What clues do they bring us for the future? A journey awaits as we unravel their mysteries.


Wrestler: Leva Bates, aka Blue Pants

is an American professional wrestler, currently performing on the independent circuit in the United States. She is best known for her appearances with in Shimmer Women Athletes under her real name. She also has made several appearances on WWE’s NXT where she is only referred to as Blue Pants. Not only will she be running around ONF2015 geeking out at all of the crazy stuff going on, but Leva will also be reprising her role as our Costume Contest Special Guest Judge! She’s been a dedicated cosplayer for years and has a crazy track record of bringing her creations to life in the ring and fighting in them! Leva definitely has a unique eye for costume functionality and she’s got the hip toss to prove it!


Writer: Keith Rommel

is an award winning author and is the co screenplay writer for The Cursed Man movie filmed in Los Angeles, coming out in theaters later this year (2015). Keith authored the critically acclaimed dark suspense Thanatology Series which has been called, “Horror for the curious mind” and includes the titles The Cursed Man (book 1), The Lurking Man (book 2) and The Sinful Man (book 3) and The Silent Woman (book 4). Keith has dabbled in psychological crime with the fast-paced You Killed My Brother and has also released a paranormal novel entitled Among The People to show his diversity. Keith has also authored The Devil Tree, based on a Port St. Lucie, FL Legend.


Writer: Erin Pyne

is a Creative Consultant and Entertainment Writer who has worked professionally in the industry for six years. Her specialties include High Concept Narrative, Presentations, Show and Ride Scripting, Science Writing, Game and Story Writing, Song Lyricist and Copy Editing. She is the author of five books: The Secret Garden of Zombies, The Ultimate Guide to the Harry Potter Fandom, A Curiouser and Curiouser Series: Book One “Pool of Tears”, Red Angel Graphic Novel, Dolphin Journey, Doll House Murders (Sugar Ninjas Anthology vol. 4). She has worked for several entertainment companies including Sea World Parks and Entertainment, Universal Studios Creative, Ripley’s Entertainment, Falcon’s Treehouse, HHCP Architects, Creative Development LLC and more.


Special Performance: Geekapella

is Orlando’s only geeky acapella group. Do you like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Anime, or just enjoy nerd culture? You’ll find all this and more in their repertoire! Since their formation at Nerdapalooza in 2012, Geekapella has been performing at conventions all over Florida and they are totally pumped to be performing again at the Orlando Nerd Fest this year. If you’re looking for good music and fun times, come and see them transform all your favorite fandoms into something you’ll find yourself tapping your foot to and singing out loud on the car ride home!


Mega Lo Mania: A Nerd Rap Documentary

Glasswork Media is pleased to announce the debut of Mega-Lo-Mania , a captivating 30-minute-long documentary chronicling a recent tour by former educator-turned-indie-rap-hero Random, aka Mega Ran. Mega-Lo-Mania will be available in both digital and physical formats on August 25, with pre-orders now available giving fans exclusive access to in-depth liner notes by Mega Ran and never-before-released live recordings (MP3 format) from the tour as a special thank you. You can catch an early pre-screen at Orlando Nerd Fest 2015!

Anime Showing: “Tonari no Seki-kun: The Master of Killing Time”

The original manga revolves around a girl named Yokoi who sits next to a boy only known as Seki-kun. During class, Seki-kun continues to not pay attention and instead creates amazing little distractions, such as a detailed golf course with the course’s hole being a dent in his desk, or an entire dramatic war being played out by paper shogi pieces. Yokoi often finds herself getting reluctantly interested in his games, even though they always seem to end up getting HER in trouble with the teacher! Screening: Nerdcore Rising – The Movie

Nerdcore Rising follows MC Frontalot the “Godfather of Nerdcore” on his first national tour to reveal the roots of the genre, the dorky complexities of its artists, and one MC’s fight for nerd stardom. Featuring Weird Al Yankovic, Prince Paul, Jello Biafra, Tycho & Gabe, Brian Posehn, MC Frontalot, MC Chris, MC Lars and a slew of other nerdcore artists and commentators. Behind the scenes, relationships among Front and his band are challenged by their experiences on the road. Frontalot and keyboardist Gaby Alter (AKA G Minor 7) are childhood friends, and both met bassist Brandon Patton (AKA Blak Lotus) in college. Strugis, the drummer, tries to fit in as the new guy. The tour brings out the natural flirt in Brandon, the stubborn taskmaster in Sturgis, the genius-but-flighty qualities of Gaby, and the ultimate funny nerd-leader in Front. Nerdcore Rising will be screened at #ONF2015!

Movie Screening: The Throbbit

Bobo Buggins, a neurotic Throbbit, joins a throng of Dweebs (computer nerd versions of Dwarves) to help them regain their technological treasures trapped beneath Silicon Mountain. On a journey led by Randolf the Wizard, they will encounter Three Stooges-esque trolls, drunken frat boy elves in Jerkwood Forest, a game show contest with the creature Scrottum, and even more ridiculous obstacles.


Anime Panels by: Propeller Anime

Propeller Anime is Orlando’s Mightiest Anime Club! Founded on October 22nd, 2006 by their fearless leader Kent “Fist of the MFK” Ward, Propeller Anime has grown into an independent organization that anime fans in central Florida can look toward as one the best groups in terms of providing the hottest anime events and showings around. If you’re an anime fan, want to become an anime fan, or are just simply curious about anime then you definitely need to spend some time in these panels!
